China Nonferrous Metals News Highlights GR Flexible Pavement Technology for Green Mine Development
Aug 27, 2026
China Nonferrous Metals News, a leading industry publication, has reported on GR’s flexible pavement film-forming technology and its contribution to green mine development. As mine ecological restoration and dust-control regulation grow stricter, dedicated and cost-effective road surfaces have become an increasing priority for non-ferrous metal mines across China.
In non-ferrous metal mining, haul roads are the arteries of daily production. From the excavation face to the processing plant, and from waste dumps to stockyards, haul trucks make anywhere from dozens to more than a hundred passes each day. Under such heavy repeated loading, conventional surfaces quickly loosen, generate dust and develop potholes. Road maintenance has become a fixed and growing cost for operators.
Conventional approaches struggle to meet the combined demands of mine haul roads. Rigid cement surfaces are prone to cracking within a few years, with repairs that are slow and costly; asphalt softens under high temperature, causing rutting, and suffers water damage during rainy seasons, typically requiring rework at least once a year; and soil-stabilized surfaces offer only limited load capacity. Repair downtime directly interrupts mine production.
GR’s flexible pavement film-forming technology addresses these limitations by combining high load-bearing capacity, water resistance, durability and low maintenance in a single surface system
The technology does not simply substitute one paving material for another; it changes the failure mode of the road through structural innovation. Its surface structure delivers three defining characteristics:
Dense waterproofing. A continuous, dense membrane blocks moisture from penetrating the base, preventing the softening, frost heave and water damage common to unprepared surfaces.
Stress distribution. The high ductility of the membrane absorbs and distributes heavy impact loads, avoiding the through-cracks and slab fracture typical of rigid pavements.
Long-lasting dust control. The membrane binds loose surface particles into a continuous shell, delivering high dust-suppression rates and eliminating the need for frequent water spraying.
adds that the “deform-without-failing” property enables GR surfaces to serve reliably for many years after a single application, with only rapid local repairs to worn areas required rather than full reconstruction.
The technology has been validated across a range of mining applications. On main haul routes at leading steel enterprises, surfaces have delivered significantly extended service life with more than 80% lower water-spraying frequency, together with improved transport efficiency. On mine roads at a major building-materials group, maintenance costs have been reduced by more than 50% compared with conventional solutions.
